NT89 Interview
POSTED BY Sam ON December 13th IN On The Radar, Tracks.
Why did you choose the name NT89 (1989 I presume?)
I chose this name because it’s the web-alias that I’ve used all my life, it contains my initials: Nima Tahmasebi and my year of birth, 1989. You prenounce NT89: Nineteen Eighty Nine, it’s important for me because I feel to be one of the latest sons of the 80s
When did you first start producing and why?
I think it was around 2004, I grew up listening to Daft Punk and I had always loved electronic music, and I had ideas that I wanted to represent through an audio wave
Who inspires your music?
The crowds, the clubs, artist-wise; I’d say my Italian buddies like Congorock, Cécile, and of course The Bloody Beetroots.
Can you describe your studio? What sort of equipment do you use or are you all digital?
I’ve got a monster laptop, Intel t9 with 6gb RAM and 6mb of cache, it’s lead to an audio interface (M-Audio Ultra), as hardware I use an Evolution UC-33, Tweakalizer FX for synths, an Akai MPD32 for drums and hits, and finally an Alesis Photon x25 which I use always for my synth sounds. Software, I use tons, Ableton Live, Cubase, Pro Tools, etc.
If you had a fire in your studio, what 1 piece of equipment would you save?
Laptop
