What is ‘Nikit’
This is a kind of nickname given by some friends of mine. My name is Nicolas, it became “Nikita” and finally “niKit”. Furthermore you can find lots of play on words with it in French so I found it funny.

When did you start producing music?
About two years ago. At first I was having fun on samplers, trying to work on sampled loops and then I got some “professional” softwares which allowed me to work on more personal stuffs. This is while I was meeting persons who had the same passion than me that I really got into it.

If your studio was on fire, what piece of equipment would you save?
I am producing only on my mac computer so this is easy to answer…

What got you into electronic music?
Well at first I was really keen on rap and hip hop stuffs and these last years lots of bands have been using more and more electronic elements: producers like Timbaland or Para One illustrate it. Actually, I think it influenced me and I found the techno-energy appealing. Furthermore, the French Touch movement made House music become a kind of national asset, so I definitely couldn’t avoid it.

Who are your main influences?
Mainly hip hop stuffs and of course electronica-techno music. So it means a lot of US-rap tunes, and artists like Jackson, SebastiAn, Aphex Twin and Oizo as instances to sum up. Moreover I keep looking for ghetto music or early 90’s dance tracks: some of them were very inventive and may be sources of inspiration.

Who would you love to meet?
Let’s say Madonna and Kodomo. Two myths.

What artist performed the best gig/party you have been to?
I saw Daft Punk performing at Nîmes and I had never seen anything like that before. It was G.R.E.A.T.
Para One’s live is also heavy.
