Soulwax Interview

POSTED BY Sam ON March 4th IN News, Tracks, one more disco.

soulwax

So, we are holding an interview with the legendary Soulwax soon and we thought, rather than constructing our own questions, why not get the public’s thoughts? So, I present to you the opportunity to ask Soulwax a question, or if you have multiple questions, thats fine too! We would prefere for you to ask the questions by commenting on this post, but you can email us the questions by going to the contact page if you wish. I will gather up all the questions as soon as they come in. When we feature the interview article on the site, we will give credit to whoever asked the question.

So please comment/email with your questions, I will post again when it is too late to enter the questions.
For now, here are some tracks below:

Will Part of the Week-end Never Dies get a proper release in movie theatres ? Or will it be available only in DVD ?

pretty sure they won’t answer this one, but… what will their new 2manydj’s project look like ?

Could they include the cover of ‘Last Christmas’ they did during their live @ SoulwaX-mas in their usual live, as it sounded really great !

Is your version of Ready For The Floor by Hot Chip the best track ever ? Yes it gives me chills every time I hear it. Like Neil the hippie from The Young Ones or Prisencolinensinainciusol by Adriano Celentano.

Will your movie Part Of The Weekend Never Dies feature new songs or short films like De Boot in some extra ? Soulwax TV ?

Why I was so sick at home and miss your last 2 many dj’s tourdate in Modena ?

You always make people dance. We want you to make people dance ALWAYS !!!

    Love and admiration from Rimini.
    FLYING SAUCERS FOR EVERYBODY.

“When I was about 12, I saw a TV show about hip-hop in New York. I remember the producers visited LL Cool J’s mum’s house and things like that. Anyway, they get to Grandmaster Flash’s house and he starts explaining how he DJs. He says that all he does is take the best bits of the records he loves and repeats them so people can dance. Which is a simple display of genius. The idea stuck with me and years later we adopted that approach ourselves for 2 Many DJs.”

Would you ever consider doing a song for the Eurovision Song Contest? It would be amazing if one year you got yourselves and other european dance counterparts to have a battle agaisnt eachother.(it’ll never happen I know but imagine if it did)

    Do you get many groupies?

What is the one most important piece of equipment you would save if your studio was on fire?

What did you make of that fake news report about Belgium splitting in two?

Can i have backstage passes when you come to Dublin in May?

couple of q’s for the ‘wax….

what gigs/venues do you prefer to play? i have seen soulwax/2manydjs at festivals (reading/leeds), in proper clubs (se-one) and at specials events like the warehouseprojects in manchester, do you prefer small intimate gigs or big and messy?

and on the manchester warehouse projects in particular, you have played there numerous times in recent years and seem to have a good relationship with the organisers, what makes you come back so often?
    the city?/people?/money?/promoters?

which part of the weekend dies and which doesnt?

i have an old set of 2manydjs vs tiga from a few years back that is great. will we see more ‘Vs’; sets in the future? and if you could pick anyone to do a back to back dj set with who would it be?

great blog by the way, agree with ‘MarsT’, one of best out there. keep bringin the heat!

Will there be a Die Verboten record or any live dates this year?

Have you ever dj’d in clubs with your father?

When I am out, there’s nothing I love more than hearing a Soulwax record being played, but how do you guys feel when you hear your own music when you are out? Would you ever dance to it?

I saw you under London arches in May last year, and towards the end of your dj set, there was a big stage invasion, until the bouncers kicked everyone off, which was a shame as you guys didn’t seem to mind the people up there. Does it bother you when people do this or do you think that bouncers take their jobs too seriously?

Thanks and really looking forward to catching you guys play soon!

    Matt, Poole
