One More Disco

First things first, sorry about the silence, we have switched host (so it should be all faster now), and we are launching our new forums soon! So anyway, I had a giant interview with The Proxy today, and he is a really great guy! So please, just read because if you have no heard him (where have you been?), you need to! I haven’t put up a track, but if you want to hear his stuff, click here.

For those who don’t know, tell us about The Proxy.
My name is Zhenya, I am 24 and from dirty Moscow. I started producing music in 2000, and used to play some local dirty club, I was the DJ there.

What sort of equipment did you start making music with in 2000?
I bought my first small synth, which was a Roland SH 32, really shitty sound, I then bought more synths (such as the Roland JP 8000 Alesis, Andromeda Roland SH101). After I bought all of those synths, I bought my FAVORITE Roland V-Synth, it had such a great sound! I love it! Very Proxy sound like WAU WAU WAU.

Have you produced any tracks with your favorite Roland V-Synth?
I have practically made all of my tracks with it, that’s how much I love it.

If your studio was on fire, what piece of equipment would you save?
Haha, I would just want to save the V-Synth of course! and my monitors (Dynaudio BM6A and M2 monitors).

Who do you think will be getting bigger in 2008?
The Proxy! I think Matt Walsh will be big in 2008, all of my friends are telling me he is really good.

What has been your biggest musical accomplishment?
Being able to make music that not only I love, but others do too.

What has been the best gig you have ever been to?
I think it was on Turbo Europe, last summer, Razzmatazz club, in Barselona.

What upcoming releases do you have in stock for us?
Dance in the Dark and 40 SECONDS will be released by June on Turbo Records.

Do you have a name for your upcoming album yet?
Not yet, I’m thinking everyday.

Is it hard to tour around the world because you live in Russia?
Oh man!! YEEAAHH!!! It’s really hard!

Have you ever considered doing a collaberation?
Yeah, maybe soon. Maybe with Tiga, or SebastiAn, a collaberation with Les Pitits Pilous would be cool. But I am not sure if it will happen or not.

Do you have any “The Proxy” T-Shirts coming out soon?
hehe, not yet. But possibly soon.
