We’re featuring an American artist today, Hot Damn, from Colorado. They sent us their remix of The Beatnuts - Watch Out Now, and it reminded me a little of Diplo, kind of fuse’s hip hop with electro, sure this isn’t groundbreaking; other artists have done this before, but this features a very nice kinda chilled rhythm to it. Been meaning to post about these two for ages now, they are by far one of the most upcoming new electro duo’s in the scene at the moment. They go by the name Volatile, and have a dirty electro sound to put by their name, influenced by artists such as Proxy (of which recommended them to me).

So definitely check out their tracks below and be sure to check their MySpace out.

One of our favorite group-producers, Beens, are back with 2 new teasers. SMASH, with it’s whisper of ‘Da Funk’ gives us a great new sound from Beens, especially with it’s amazing breakdown towards the end; somewhat Proxyish? Drop That reminds me of Les Pitits Pilous, except I think Beens have put a bit more detail into this piece, it really down drop hard and I can definitely hear it hitting clubs across Europe, this one’s gonna’ go big.

It can be said, with little hesitation or argument, that Laurent Garnier’s
effect on UK dance music culture is unequalled. First introducing the
Hacienda to Detroit techno and Chicago house, Garnier then changed the face
of clubbing again with his all-night-long sessions at The End, in-between
establishing himself alongside Frankie Knuckles in NYC, reinvigorating Paris
clubland with his Wake Up parties at Rex Club and playing some of Ibiza’s
most iconic sets on the Space terrace.  Similar to his dense musical
chronology, equipped with unpredictable movements around the globe, as a DJ,
Garnier is equally as lively and difficult to pin down – always ready to
shake things up and leave you breathless with a swift change of direction,
just when you think you have him pegged.

And so to 2009, and Laurent Garnier once more makes a move into a new and
unexpected area - Friday May 22nd is the date that all will be unveiled at
matter. The Friday evening will be split into two parts: the first sees
Garnier reveal his new live band project with an early performance to launch
his latest artist album, ‘Tales of a Kleptomaniac.’  The second part follows
immediately at 11pm with the start of a vivacious club night, featuring a DJ
set from our hero and several more very special guests.

The Laurent Garnier live show takes the form of a six-piece band, including
a horn section, which demonstrates just how rooted in live instrumentation
‘Tales of A Kleptomaniac’ is.  As you’d expect from Garnier, it’s a dazzling
mixtures of genres and styles, each tackled as adeptly as the other. The
album is a divine collage of acid house, Detroit techno, tribal, dubstep,
DnB, acid jazz and dub reggae – all illuminated with the rare flair of a
true visionary. Largely eschewing the typical machinations of a DJ/producer
locking himself away in a studio, Laurent Garnier will incorporate a
remarkable array of live instrumentation and vocalists that will fall, quite
simply, nothing short of magic.

For the second half of the night, we’ve lined up a group of pioneers that
will undoubtedly create a wondrous evening of imagination and innovation.
Joining Laurent and matter resident Yousef in Room 1 will be a fellow French
producer and DJ whose left an indelible mark on modern music: Francois K.
And Room 2’s not lacking for veteran elder statesmen of dance music either,
playing host to the king of the carnival, Norman Jay MBE, who will be
joined Chris Coco and The Unabombers.

I’ve had a demo of this for some time now, constantly been listening to it and I am glad that I can now finally post a teaser of it :) Great thing is that they’re releasing the parts for this and every track for you to remix. If you want consideration to be included in the remix EP, submit them your remix before the end of 1 month. However, there is an open-submission policy on remixes. So submit anytime you like. 1 month from the release of the single, so if the release is May 19th, before the second week of June remixes should be in.

Caspa is the name on everyone’s lips recently. Best known for his remix of TC- Where’s My Money, featured in many mixtapes and sets from our favourite DJ’s such as Foamo, Crookers and Brodinski.

To celebrate the launch of Caspa’s debut album ‘Everybody’s Talking, Nobody’s Listening’, Caspa will be playing at Fabric in London next Friday, April 17th. He will also be joined by the likes of Skream, Benga and David Rodigan. So if you’re in the area and you’re a big fan of dubstep, a night not to be missed I think.
